holiday greetings 2010_a scrapbook layout

i got this really nifty idea from garden girl nichol magouirk from two peas in a bucket the other day.  she started this new series with two peas called “from start to finish” and her very first project featured a scrapbook layout with a large pocket to hold greeting cards.  as soon as i watched the video i thought it would be an excellent idea to try.  a week or so later, i actually got around to it, and i love the way that it came out!

to create this layout, i used papers from the noel collection by bo bunny, and alpha stickers from basic grey, heidi grace, and prima.

however, unlike nichol, i did not have any of those nifty pre-fabricated pockets that she used for her cards, so i created my own!  bo bunny paper tends to be rather thick, so it lends itself well to projects like this.  i cut a piece of paper for the front of the pocket at 12 x 4.  i then scored the paper at 1″ and 11″ on the two short sides, and 3″ on the long side.  next, i cut out the corners, and notched the sides of the tabs.  i also made a template to create the decorative edge of the pocket.  to do this i cut a piece of scrap cardstock to be 5 inches, exactly half of the size of the finished pocket.  i drew half of my design, and then traced it onto the pocket to create a completely symmetrical cut.  i think it came out really nicely.  the last thing i did was folded on all the score lines and adhered them down to my page to create a pocket!

i really enjoy the simplicity of this layout as well as how functional it is.  i finally have a place to keep my holiday greeting cards!  i hope you enjoy this layout as much as i do, and please feel free to ask any questions you may have!
